Lailatul Qadr - Night of Power
Lailat al Qadr, the Night of Power, marks the night in which the
Qur'an was first revealed to the Prophet Muhammad  by Allah.

Muslims regard this as the most important event in history, and
the Qur'an says that this night is better than a thousand months
(97:3), and that on this night the angels descend to earth.

Since over fourteen centuries Muslims are striving diligently to
benefit greatly from it. A rare trade indeed - pure profit and
thousand times more!

The Night of Power is celebrated powerfully. This is a time that
Muslims spend in study and prayer. Some will spend the whole
night in prayer or in reciting the Qur'an.

Lailat al Qadr is a good time to ask for forgiveness. Allah's Apostle said...

Whoever establishes the prayers on the night of Qadr out of sincere faith and hoping to attain Allah's rewards (not to show off) then all his past
sins will be forgiven.
Better than a thousand months
A thousand months are equivalent to 83 years and 4 months. Fortunate is the person who spends this night in
prayer. The man or woman, who prays for the whole night during this Night, will deserve blessings and reward for
the period as if he or she had been praying for eighty three years and four months consecutively. Since the
Night of Power is better than one thousand months no one can actually measure the extent as to how much
better it is.
The worship and the vigil of the Night of Power are a treat to the soul. The heart tends to melt into tears of heartfelt
gratitude. The body is in a state of angelic ecstasy. The soul strives to reach nearer to Almighty Allah. Those who
pass his night in Prayer, experience an unimaginable bliss, a deep feeling of great pleasure as a result of immense
heavenly blessings in this night.
"Surely We revealed it (the Holy Quran) on the grand night. And what will make you
comprehend what is the grand night? The grand night is better than a thousand
months. The angels and Gibrail descend in it by the permission of their Lord for every
Peace it is, till the break of the morning."
This night had already opened its gates of treasures when the angel for the first time had come with the
Divine Message in the cave of Hira, but its auspiciousness has continued to be with us permanently. Every
year in the month of Ramadhan, this night is given to the Ummah. Muslims engage in prayers, recitation of
Quran and praying to Allah, as the Prophet sas said: "The person who offered prayers to Allah in the night
of Dignity with faith and with hope of reward from Allah, all his past sins have been forgiven."

As the rainy season is suitable for farming, similarly for the attainment of nearness to Allah, specific times ,
specific days and specific nights are most suitable. So also, the Night of Power is the most suitable night
for attaining nearness to Allah.
In this holy month of Ramadhan, let us strive to seek the Night of Power and its bliss. May Allah reward us with His bountiful blessings. Ameen.
